APR Professor Mike Little Wins KTA Award

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The Kappa Tau Alpha Honor Society awarded Advertising and Public Relations professor Mike Little with the 2013 Outstanding Commitment to Teaching Award.

The award is voted on by KTA members based on faculty members’ commitment to classroom teaching, encouraging student scholarship, and involvement with students’ personal and professional growth.

“It’s truly an honor receive this award,” Little said.  “My students work hard for me, so I do my best to give my all to them.”

This is Little’s second time winning the award.  He previously won the award in 2002.

KTA is a national journalism and mass communication honor society.  Members are juniors and seniors majoring in advertising, public relations, journalism, and telecommunication and film who rank among the top 10 percent of their class.

Advertising and Public Relations professor Dr. Karla Gower is the faculty advisor for Wm. David Sloan Chapter at UA.

“For a teacher, it is always special to know that the best and brightest students think highly of you,” Gower said.

Little has taught almost every class in the major, including creative and campaigns classes.

“Mr. Little is an outstanding professor and his APR 300 course has been one of my favorite courses at the university thus far,” said KTA member Denver Hunt.  “He is always available to his students and his lectures are extremely helpful and informative.”
