TCS to implement Visitor Management System

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The Tuscaloosa City Schools (TCS) is implementing a visitor management process beginning Oct. 1, 2013, to continue to ensure the safety and security of students and employees.

This system will require all visitors to TCS facilities to present government-issued identification, including a U.S. driver’s license or U.S. Passport, before entering the building beyond the main office.

“The safety of our students and employees is our top priority,” said Mike Daria, assistant superintendent of general administration.“Implementing a process for guests and volunteers to access schools allows us to make sure we know who is in each building at all times while providing the necessary clearance checks and identification for each guest.”

A visitor’s ID will be run through the visitor management system, which conducts a quick background check against a national sex offender database. Once processed, visitors and guests are provided temporary identification badges.

TCS welcomes parents and guests to our schools. Although this process may take a few minutes longer, the system is dedicated to safeguarding its children and employees.
