TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Tuscaloosa City Schools (TCS) students presented the United Way of West Alabama a check totaling more than $12,500 at a student drive Tuesday. TCS students participated in the fundraising activities, which included hat days, crazy sock days and other events.
“I’m proud we have children who are actually going out and helping other people,” said Superintendent Dr. Paul McKendrick. “That’s extremely important, because it shows our little ones are understanding other peoples’ needs.”
Last year, TCS raised more than $10,700 for the United Way of West Alabama. United Way Campaign Director Fran Powe said she appreciates TCS’ continued support.
“I’m sure this has been the largest year we’ve ever had, so the students did a great job,” Powe said.
